A question bank that has to explain itself.
Lumen Nursing makes NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN preparation, and a separate question bank for nursing school coursework. The idea behind both is the same: a question you get wrong should teach you something, so every item carries a rationale for the right answer and for each wrong one.
How a question gets in front of you
Every item is written by a nurse educator to the current NCLEX test plan, in the format the exam uses: multiple choice, select all that apply, matrix, bow tie, drag and drop, drop-down cloze, highlight, ordered response, trend and six-step case studies. It is written with its rationale, the reasons each distractor is wrong, a teaching point and, where an answer could cause harm, a safety note.
A second nurse educator reviews it before it is published. Doses, concentrations and rates are checked against the formulary, and an item that fails the check is held until an editor clears it. Sections and subsections are filed to a fixed list so a student who picks Pharmacology is served Pharmacology.
Once live, an item carries its own statistics: how often it is answered correctly, how long it takes, and how often it is reported. An item students dispute is retired or rewritten, not quietly edited. Any student can report an item from inside the question; it leaves rotation immediately, a nurse editor reads the report, usually the same day, and the student is told what changed.
The free readiness exam
Eighty-five questions, the same fixed form for every candidate on a track, built to the current NCSBN test plan in its section proportions, with five case studies. One sitting per person. The result is a readiness band by section, emailed, with the subtopics you missed. It is set at the standard of the exam itself, because a readiness check that flatters you is worthless.
Lumen Nursing School
A second bank, sold separately, written to nursing program course objectives rather than the licensure plan: twenty courses from Anatomy and Physiology through Nursing Research, every one with its subsections published in full, so the scope of the bank can be checked before it is bought.
